Avorion
Avorion is a procedurally generated sci-fi sandbox where players start out at the edge of the galaxy and must find their way to its core. Players build their own ships, which they will use to explore the galaxy, trade and fight. Space ships are mainly of large scale, with crews, turrets and energy systems that you will have to manage. The galaxy gets more hostile, but also more rewarding the closer players get to its core. You're free to play however you want, as a mercenary, freighter captain, admiral, scavenger or pirate, it's all up to you.
What it feels like
Epic space battles and high-stakes exploration toward the hostile core deliver moments of kinetic thrill. Open-ended sandbox design invites player reflection on goals, strategy, and long-term empire building.
What it's about
Interstellar exploration, building an empire, and saving the galaxy against an unknown enemy evoke epic space adventure. Core setting is a speculative sci-fi galaxy with procedural generation and futuristic space mechanics.
How it plays
Piloting and commanding ships is the absolute core mechanic; all gameplay flows through ship control and management. Players construct ships from dynamically scalable blocks with minimal constraints, enabling creative design. Energy systems, crew management, and ship resources must be carefully monitored and allocated during exploration and combat.
How it looks and sounds
Ships are built from dynamically scalable blocks, employing voxel-based construction mechanics. Ships are piloted from a third-person camera perspective following the vessel.
How it's structured
The game explicitly emphasizes player freedom to define their own goals—mercenary, freighter, pirate, or explorer—with minimal imposed objectives. A procedurally generated galaxy is continuously explorable in non-linear order, from the edge toward the core. The entire galaxy is procedurally generated, ensuring each playthrough and region discovery differs algorithmically.
