LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
Lego Marvel Super Heroes is a 2013 Lego-themed action-adventure video game developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game features gameplay similar to other Lego titles, alternating between various action-adventure sequences and puzzle-solving scenarios. The game's storyline sees various heroes from the Marvel Universe joining forces to foil the schemes of Doctor Doom and Loki, who have also recruited several villains to aid them, and seek to conquer the Earth using the Doom Ray of Doom, a device built from the shards of the Silver Surfer's board called "Cosmic Bricks".
What it feels like
A carefree, unburdened comedic tone with humorous character interactions and slapstick LEGO destruction. Mischievous fun inviting players to experiment with character abilities and destroy the LEGO environment. Quirky fanciful charm in how the LEGO world and Marvel characters are presented with gentle absurdity.
What it's about
A classic hero's journey with multiple Marvel heroes uniting to defeat a great evil threatening the world. Various Marvel heroes team up and bond through their shared mission to save Earth. Superhero adventures and magical threats (Loki, mystical artifacts) have fantastical elements despite modern setting.
How it plays
Fast melee combat against multiple enemies with flashy chained attacks is the core action loop across the campaign. Jumping and navigating hazardous geometry through LEGO environments is a consistent challenge alongside combat. Puzzles woven into the LEGO world—breaking objects, using hero abilities to manipulate environments—are central to progression.
How it looks and sounds
The camera consistently follows characters from behind or above the shoulder throughout gameplay. Cel-shaded LEGO characters and vibrant comic book-inspired visual presentation evoke the Marvel aesthetic.
How it's structured
A bounded, authored story arc following heroes against Loki and Doctor Doom with a definite narrative conclusion. Designed to be played solo, with all campaign content accessible in single-player mode. Full split-screen local multiplayer is a core feature allowing cooperative play on one device throughout the game.
