Lethal League

2014Team ReptilePlayStation 4, Linux, PC (Microsoft Windows), Mac, Xbox One

Lethal League is a competitive projectile fighting game where you have to hit an anti-gravity ball into the face of your opponent to win. The ball speeds up with every strike, up to explosively extreme velocities. Play intense local matches with friends and foes, challenge yourself in the singleplayer mode or battle it out online.

What it feels like

The escalating ball speed and high-stakes competitive exchange creates a kinetic rush and thrill in moment-to-moment play. As the ball accelerates to extreme velocities, the pace becomes chaotic and overwhelming, demanding constant reactive input. The absurd premise of using anti-gravity balls as weapons and the arcade tone invite mischievous, experimental play.

What it's about

Competitive athletic challenge and scoring-based victory conditions frame the game as sport, albeit with surreal rules.

How it plays

Frame-precise striking and ball control create frame-tight competitive exchanges where timing and execution precision are central to winning rallies. Close-quarters striking with a bat/paddle against an opponent's projectile is the core interaction, though the weapon remains fixed in play. The ball's escalating speed and momentum carry through each strike, with players chaining shots to build intensity and danger.

How it looks and sounds

The visual presentation uses pixel-art sprites and 2D graphics evoking arcade and retro fighting games. Bold, saturated color choices in character and arena design drive the arcade visual identity. UI elements are minimally overlaid, keeping focus on the arena and ball action with in-game readouts.

How it's structured

Direct head-to-head competitive matches where players vie to strike the ball past each other is the primary design focus. Combat unfolds in bounded arenas rather than a traversable world; each match is a discrete self-contained bout. Local split-screen multiplayer is a headline feature, enabling play with friends in the same room.
