Little Inferno
Congratulations on your new Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace! Throw your toys into your fire, and play with them as they burn. Stay warm in there. It's getting cold outside! Burn flaming logs, screaming robots, credit cards, batteries, exploding fish, unstable nuclear devices, and tiny galaxies. An adventure that takes place almost entirely in front of a fireplace - about looking up up up out of the chimney, and the cold world just on the other side of the wall.
What it feels like
Mischievous, teasing fun inviting experimentation with burning increasingly absurd objects. Quirky fanciful charm in the premise of a fireplace adventure and the surreal collection of burnable items. Dark cynical wit throughout, particularly in the fireplace's narrative asides and the absurdity of the premise.
What it's about
Satirizes consumer culture, comfort, and the disposability of entertainment through burning toys and credit cards. Set in a recognizable modern world with contemporary consumer goods and criticism of modern consumer life. The entire setting emphasizes solitude inside, with the cold outside world pressing against the player's small warm space.
How it plays
Core interaction is clicking to select items from a catalog and dropping them into the fire to watch and interact with them.
How it looks and sounds
Simple, stripped-down visual presentation centered on the fireplace and items, avoiding visual clutter. The game employs a 2D interface with 3D-rendered items that exist in the fireplace space. The art style and presentation embrace a warm, intimate, lo-fi aesthetic fitting the fireplace subject.
How it's structured
Entirely solo play revolving around personal interaction with a fireplace and its mechanics. The game is explicitly designed as a short, self-contained experience that can be completed in a few hours. Few imposed objectives; player chooses what to burn and the order, setting their own pacing and goals.
