Loddlenaut
Loddlenaut is an ocean cleanup adventure set on a vibrant alien planet. Play as an interstellar custodian sent to clean up a polluted ocean planet. Repurpose marine debris and take care of axolotl-like alien creatures! As you clean up the planet, you’ll run into axolotl-like aliens known as “loddles.” Protect them from the polluted waters and feed them aquatic fruits while you make their planet habitable again. Depending on their diet, loddles will grow in different ways and develop unique traits and abilities that will further enable them to survive on this polluted planet.
What it feels like
The game is explicitly designed as a relaxing, low-stakes ocean cleanup adventure where the core loop centers on gentle creature care and environmental restoration without combat or punishment. Cleaning a polluted planet and making it habitable for alien creatures embodies earned optimism and the possibility of ecological renewal despite damage. Axolotl-like aliens with playful character and the charming alien ocean setting create a fanciful, imaginative tone that delights in the quirky and colorful.
What it's about
Environmental restoration, ocean cleanup, and ecological concern are central to the game's narrative and mechanics. An alien ocean planet and interstellar custodian setting ground the game in speculative sci-fi worldbuilding. Protecting loddles from pollution and ensuring their survival by feeding and caring for them reflects survival concerns, though from a nurturing rather than hostile perspective.
How it plays
Building bonds with and caring for axolotl-like creatures through feeding and protection is a central gameplay loop. Repurposing marine debris into useful items through crafting is a stated core mechanic for enabling cleanup and creature care. Gathering trash, managing aquatic fruits, and budgeting resources to care for creatures under pollution pressure is a moderate system.
How it looks and sounds
Steam tags and description consistently emphasize colorful, vibrant visuals of the alien ocean environment. Adorable axolotl-like alien creatures with chibi-style charm are a core visual and emotional draw of the game. The custodian player character is viewed from a third-person perspective as they explore the underwater world.
How it's structured
Explicitly single-player experience with no multiplayer component. The game is described as an open-world ocean planet that players explore at their own pace, choosing where to clean and which creatures to tend. Designed as relaxing, pick-up-and-play sessions of cleanup and creature care without demanding long commitments or narrative deadlines.
