Orcs Must Die! 2
Orcs Must Die! 2 thrusts players and their friends back into battle against a terrifying mob of orcs and other monsters. With a redesigned spellbook, players will have a broader range of options to build a deadly arsenal of defenses. Investing hard-earned skulls in an enormous new upgrade system will allow players to cater to their favorite methods of burning, grinding, tossing, or dismembering orcs. Orcs Must Die! 2 begins days after the ending of the original game. With the rifts closed and the magical Order dead, the War Mage finds himself suddenly thrust into a new battle against the mindless orc mob. He has a powerful, if questionable, new companion in the Sorceress, an ex-War Mage responsible for the destruction of the Order.
What it feels like
The comedic tone around orcs and cartoony presentation keeps the mood playful despite the action. The kinetic rush of rapid trap placement and combat against waves delivers moment-to-moment thrills. The game invites experimentation with different trap combinations and creative orc-killing methods.
What it's about
The fantasy setting of rifts, magic, and warfare against orc hordes defines the thematic context.
How it plays
Tower defense is the core mechanic—placing traps and defenses to stop waves of enemies is the fundamental system. Platforming is a major structural element alongside defense; players navigate the environment while setting up defenses. Direct ranged combat with firearms and spells is a significant component alongside trap placement.
How it looks and sounds
The game is presented from a third-person camera, viewing the player character and arena.
How it's structured
Combat is organized around surviving successive escalating waves of orc enemies. Each level is a bounded arena where players defend against waves rather than traversing an open world. Local co-op is a core multiplayer feature allowing two players to cooperate on the same machine.
