SoulWorker
Soulworker is an anime action MMORPG which takes place in the Cloudrealm, a now vacant city which only harbors the psychics and a horde of monsters. Players will learn about the fate of the city and the reason for the disappearance of all inhabitants through the course of the game, as well as possibly finding a way to reverse this catastrophe. The English version of the game that was published by Gameforge ceased its service on April 30, 2021. Lion Games Studios launched a new English server on May 13, 2021. It shares the same game client as the Taiwanese version and is only available from Steam
What it feels like
The narrative about saving the world from devastation and reversing catastrophe has sincere emotional stakes. The unknown fate of Cloudrealm and its inhabitants creates an enigmatic atmosphere to explore.
What it's about
The game's setting is explicitly a 'post-apocalyptic world' with a 'devastated' vacant city. Players uncover the fate of the city and reasons for inhabitant disappearance through the story. Psychics populate the remaining inhabitants, suggesting supernatural or paranormal themes.
How it plays
The game emphasizes action combat with fast melee attacks; 'hack and slash' is listed in Steam tags and matches the character action style. An anime action game with emphasis on stylish combat execution fits the character action genre. As a free-to-play MMORPG with character progression, leveling and grinding are core loops.
How it looks and sounds
The game is explicitly described as an 'anime action MMORPG' with anime-inspired visual style central to its identity. Third-person perspective is standard for this action MMORPG and is highlighted in Steam tags. Steam tags explicitly mention 2.5D as a visual characteristic of the game's presentation.
How it's structured
Explicitly an MMORPG where players inhabit a shared persistent world with online multiplayer. Online co-op is listed as a feature alongside the MMO framework for cooperative play. A story arc about learning the fate of Cloudrealm and reversing a catastrophe provides narrative structure.
