The First Descendant
Launched in July 2024, The First Descendant is a next-generation third-person co-op action RPG looter shooter featuring high-quality graphics developed using Unreal Engine 5. In the game, players become a Descendant whose mission is to combat against alien invaders – The Vulgus who crossed dimensions over 100 years ago and brought with them the devastating Colossi and destruction– for the survival of humanity and to protect Albion and the continent of Ingris. Players will encounter spectacular stories as they grow stronger through various missions and raids to finally discover the Descendants' secret. Cooperation is crucial as players team up with one another in strategic multiplayer boss fights where teamwork and tactics are key. New equipment, materials, and items obtained through a myriad of missions and boss fights will contribute to players’ character development.
What it feels like
The narrative of defending humanity and protecting continents carries an undertone of hard-won victory and heroic momentum.
What it's about
The setting is explicitly sci-fi: alien invaders (Vulgus and Colossi) crossed dimensions 100+ years ago; players fight for human survival across Albion and Ingris. Players fight for human survival against an alien threat and seek to discover the Descendants' secret, echoing a classic heroic narrative arc.
How it plays
The core gameplay loop centers on shooting combat fused with randomized loot drops from missions and boss fights, defining the entire progression system. Third-person shooting with tactical aiming and firearms handling is fundamental to moment-to-moment combat against Vulgus and Colossi. New equipment, materials, and items drop from missions and boss fights with varying rarity, driving the core reward loop.
How it looks and sounds
Explicitly a third-person game; the camera follows the player character in combat and exploration. Powered by Unreal Engine 5 with next-generation high-quality graphics aiming for high-fidelity visual presentation.
How it's structured
Up to 4 players cooperate over the internet in strategic multiplayer boss fights, with teamwork and tactics explicitly central to design. As a free-to-play live-service title with character progression, equipment upgrades, and seasonal content, it expects sustained play across dozens of hours. As a free-to-play title with in-app purchases and seasonal progression implied, it sustains play through ongoing content.
