Paradox Development Studio invites you to build your ideal society in the tumult of the exciting and transformative 19th century. Balance the competing interests in your society and earn your place in the sun in Victoria 3, one of the most anticipated games in Paradox’s history.
What it feels like
The pacing and management focus invite unhurried reflection on economic and political consequences.
What it's about
Grounded in the transformative 19th century with authentic historical texture and period mechanics is the setting's foundation. Scheming, diplomacy, negotiation, and the machinery of power—interest groups, laws, reforms—drive the narrative. Economic systems, labor, markets, and capitalist dynamics are central to balancing competing class interests.
How it plays
Steering a 19th-century nation across politics, economics, war, and diplomacy at historical scale is the definitional core of Victoria 3. Densely interacting economic, political, military, and social systems produce emergent, unscripted outcomes across the campaign. Managing scarce resources—materials, labor, budget, and industrial output—under constant pressure is a core loop.
How it's structured
Designed primarily as a single-player experience, though multiplayer exists as an option. Play spans from 1836 to 1936—a bounded historical arc with a definite temporal endpoint. While on a historical timeline, the player has broad freedom to pursue their own goals and reshape society.
