Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Assassin's Creed Syndicate is a third-person action-adventure stealth game set in London during the Industrial Revolution of 1868. Players control twin Assassins Jacob and Evie Frye, each with distinct abilities: Jacob specializes in brawling and close combat while Evie excels at stealth. Gameplay features open-world exploration of Victorian London using parkour, carriages, a rope launcher, and gang warfare mechanics. The city is divided into boroughs that players liberate from enemy control by completing missions and building their own street gang, the Rooks. Weapons include brass knuckles, revolvers, cane-swords, and kukri knives, all of which can be upgraded.
What it feels like
Harsh, unflinching depiction of Victorian underworld violence and brutal combat.
What it's about
Grounded in Victorian London's Industrial Revolution with period-appropriate aesthetics and social context. Leading a street gang underworld and criminal operations against corrupt authority is the central premise. Seizing control of London's boroughs and building criminal power through the story arc.
How it plays
Evie's playstyle and core stealth mechanics—avoiding detection via shadow and positioning—are central to the experience. Close-quarters combat with brass knuckles, cane-swords, and other melee weapons is a primary interaction. Fluid free-running across Victorian rooftops and buildings via vaults and wall-runs is a signature traversal mode.
How it looks and sounds
The entire game is presented from a third-person camera following the player character. Grimy, worn detail of industrial London with rust, dirt, and urban decay as visual touchstones.
How it's structured
Victorian London is a large, continuously explorable open world with discrete boroughs to liberate in non-linear order. Designed as a single-player experience with no mandatory multiplayer component.
