Buckshot Roulette is an indie tabletop horror game that reimagines Russian roulette using a pump-action shotgun instead of a revolver. The player faces off against a computer-controlled opponent called "The Dealer" across three rounds, with consumable items introduced in later rounds that add strategic depth. The game features a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode for up to four players.

What it feels like

The core gameplay loop of deciding when to pull the trigger creates sustained edge-of-seat pressure where a wrong choice is immediately, catastrophically costly. A slow-building anticipatory fear underpins every decision, as the player awaits the inevitable moment of truth against the shotgun. Visceral horror couples the terror of imminent death with the physical revulsion of shotgun impact.

What it's about

Confronting death and finitude is literalized in the mechanic itself, where each pull of the trigger risks instant fatality. The primary aim is to frighten and disturb via the lethal Russian roulette premise and visceral shotgun consequences.

How it plays

Random shot placement in the shotgun chambers is the definitional core mechanic, with outcomes turning on chance and risk assessment. Play proceeds through discrete alternating turns between player and Dealer, with each deciding whether to pull the trigger. Consumable items in later rounds are a deliberate subgame of strategic use and spatial management of limited resources.

How it's structured

Direct head-to-head competition against the Dealer—or other players in multiplayer—is the core adversarial structure. Three rounds of progressive play form a bounded, authored arc with a definite resolution and victor.
