Also, while maintaining the series' intuitive controls, we have included a new Musou Action system where you can experience the thrill of 'one versus thousands' like never before on an ever-changing battlefield. In addition, the captivating lives of our eclectic cast of officers intermingle in an expansive 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' world that will allow you to feel completely immersed in the tides of history.

The core gameplay loop is hack-and-slash combat against mass hordes of enemies, with fast flashy chained attacks defining the 'one versus thousands' fantasy. Deep combo-driven melee combat with stylish execution is emphasized through the new Musou Action system and State Combo mechanics. Lock-on targeting for managing spacing and focus in combat against overwhelming enemy numbers is a core tool.

The camera follows the player character from behind as they traverse and combat in the open world. Japanese anime-inspired character design and visual presentation, with exaggerated proportions and stylized portrayal of historical figures.
How it's structured
A single vast open-world map of Ancient China is the foundational structure, replacing the series' traditional linear stages. A bounded authored story of the Three Kingdoms unfolds across 90 playable characters with interwoven narrative arcs. The game supports full online and local co-op throughout the campaign, allowing cooperative play through the Three Kingdoms story.
