I am Bread
I am Bread is an action-adventure simulation game. It puts the player in control of a slice of bread and the aim of each level is to turn the bread into toast. If the bread, before becoming toast, touches objects the "edible" meter will go down. Objects and substances that can make this go down can be water and the floor. To control the bread the player must use the arrow keys or an analog stick. The levels are based on the seven days of the week.
What it feels like
The absurd premise of playing as bread trying to become toast delivers quirky, fanciful charm. A family-friendly game built entirely on a silly, fun premise without serious stakes. The awkward controls and comical premise invite experimentation and mischievous play.
What it's about
The mundane, everyday nature of bread and daily kitchen activities provide gentle thematic texture.
How it plays
Core challenge is navigating levels with platforming challenges while controlling the bread slice. Physics-based movement and interactions are central to how the bread responds to the environment. Managing the edibility meter by avoiding contamination is a core pressure throughout levels.
How it looks and sounds
The game follows the bread slice from a third-person perspective as it navigates levels.
How it's structured
Designed exclusively as a single-player experience with no multiplayer component. Levels are organized by days of the week as discrete stages to complete in sequence. Discrete level-based stages designed for casual play sessions without lengthy commitment.
