Artifact
A collaboration between legendary card game designer Richard Garfield and Valve, Artifact Classic is a digital card game that combines deeply strategic, competitive gameplay with the rich setting of Dota 2. The result is an immersive and visually stunning trading card game unlike any other. Wield your deck across three lanes of combat, answer every move of your opponent with one of your own. Unlimited hand size. Unlimited number of units you control. Unlimited mana you can employ. Artifact Classic is free to play! Furthermore, all cards are now available to all players. If you paid for the original Artifact, your cards are promoted to Collector's Edition cards. Paid game event tickets have also been phased out.
What it feels like
The game takes its strategic depth and competitive integrity seriously without irony.
What it's about
The rich setting of Dota 2 provides a secondary fantasy world with magic and mythic flavor.
How it plays
Cards are the primary units and actions of moment-to-moment combat, forming the core tactical system. Assembling and refining a deck is the fundamental progression and preparation loop before matches. Three-lane grid-based positioning and turn-by-turn card plays reward positioning, sequencing, and strategic anticipation.
How it's structured
Competitive ranked play against other human players is a core mode and esports focus. Artifact Foundry includes new single-player story content, though multiplayer is the primary focus. Both Classic and Foundry include single-player modes, though multiplayer is the headline feature.
