Deceit
Deceit tests your instincts at trust and deception in a multiplayer first-person shooter. You wake up in an asylum to the sound of an unfamiliar voice, surrounded by five others. A third of your group have been infected with a virus, but who will escape?
What it feels like
Sustained distrust and suspicion of other players permeates every interaction, core to the deceit and deduction loop. High edge-of-seat pressure as infected players hide and non-infected hunt, with elimination feeling imminent. Unknowns abound—identities hidden, motives unclear, and secrets withheld throughout.
What it's about
Unraveling who among the group is infected drives the central tension and deduction puzzle. The horror stems from paranoia, distrust, and the psychological dread of not knowing who to trust rather than visceral threats.
How it plays
Infected players must blend into the group and hide their status through deception and behavior mimicry to survive. Non-infected players must read behaviors, speech, and actions to identify who is infected before they are eliminated. First-person shooter mechanics with aiming and firing are a core interaction layer for both infected and non-infected gameplay.
How it looks and sounds
The entire game is experienced from a first-person shooter perspective, core to immersion and information asymmetry.
How it's structured
The core loop is direct PvP competition where players compete against each other with asymmetric knowledge (hidden infected players) driving all interaction. Infected players have fundamentally different objectives and capabilities than non-infected, playing by different rules in the same space. Play unfolds in bounded asylum locations rather than a traversable world, arena-like spaces structured for PvP confrontation.
