What it feels like
High-speed, fluid combat with rhythmic chaining of moves delivers a kinetic rush of momentum and flow. Stylish, hard-won victories in boss encounters and combat sequences culminate in moments of heroic momentum. Dark, brutal aesthetics and unflinching depiction of violence create a harsh, serious tone.
What it's about
Raiden as a cyborg ninja in a high-tech, militarized setting with augmentation and corporate intrigue defines the aesthetic and setting. Raiden's vengeful path and quest for retribution against those who wronged him drives the narrative arc. The central tension between Raiden's humanity and his cyborg nature, questioning what remains of his self, is a core thematic concern.
How it plays
Deep combo-driven melee combat scored on stylish, expressive execution is the definitive core of Revengeance's moment-to-moment gameplay. Close-quarters katana combat with deliberate strikes and positioning is fundamental to the entire experience. Fast melee against many enemies with flashy chained attacks defines the visceral combat loop.
How it looks and sounds
Third-person camera following Raiden is the standard viewpoint throughout combat and traversal. Sweeping orchestral soundtrack punctuates cinematic moments and intense combat. Realistic proportions and anatomy pushed toward exaggerated, expressive style in a high-tech setting.
How it's structured
Designed as a solo experience with no multiplayer component. A bounded, authored story arc with narrative chapters delivers a complete arc with definite ending. Systemic combat variance, multiple difficulty settings, DLC content, and collectibles incentivize replays.
