Postal III
Good or Insane? The choice is yours. Following the Apocalyptic end to the Postal Dude’s week in Paradise, we follow him and his insane pitbull Champ as they emigrate to its appropriately named sister city, Catharsis.
What it feels like
The franchise's signature is gleeful disrespect and transgressive humor, deliberately puncturing social norms and taboo. Dark humor based on nonsensical logic and deadpan delivery, including the character of an 'insane pitbull,' reflects absurdist comedy. The game maintains dark, unflinching content focused on brutality and transgressive violence as comedic expression.
What it's about
Open-world gameplay in a city setting involves crime, violence, and underworld activities as a core component of play. The Postal series uses exaggerated violence and absurd scenarios to satirize American suburban culture and social norms. The protagonist's mental state and the game's paranoid, surreal tone ground horror in psychological rather than supernatural sources.
How it plays
Gunplay is central to Postal III as a shooter game, with firearms being the primary interactive tool throughout the open-world campaign. While gunplay dominates, melee options and physical attacks are available tools in the gameplay arsenal. Player progression through unlocking weapons and abilities provides some customization of playstyle options.
How it looks and sounds
As a third-person shooter, the camera follows the player character from behind during action and exploration.
How it's structured
The game explicitly takes place in the open-world city of Catharsis, allowing player-driven exploration and objective completion. Designed as a single-player experience with no multiplayer component, focusing on the Postal Dude's personal narrative. Open-world structure allows the player to choose the order and manner in which to approach objectives and content.
