Smite
Smite is the online battleground of the gods. Players choose from a diverse cast of deities and use their unique powers to triumph over the opposition in 5v5 team matches. Smite is a new take on the MOBA genre; rather than observing from above the action, the game’s third person perspective puts players into the thick of combat. Instead of clicking the mouse to move, players use the familiar WASD keys to move and fight their way through Smite’s dynamic battlegrounds.
What it feels like
5v5 team combat produces chaotic, fast-paced moments with multiple simultaneous threats and urgent decision-making.
What it's about
The entire cast and setting draw directly from world mythologies—Norse, Greek, Egyptian, and many others—as the core identity.
How it plays
Third-person action combat with dodge rolls, ability management, and stylish execution of god powers defines moment-to-moment gameplay. The third-person perspective and ability targeting system center on positioning and locking onto enemies for directional ability use. Teams consist of distinct roles (tank, support, damage dealers) that must coordinate abilities and positioning together.
How it looks and sounds
The defining innovation of Smite is its third-person perspective, shifting away from typical top-down MOBA camera.
How it's structured
5v5 team-based combat against other players is the core loop of Smite, structured as continuous ranked and casual competitive matches. 5v5 team coordination, roles, and synchronized objectives structure all competitive play. Ongoing seasonal updates, battle passes, cosmetic releases, and rotating limited-time modes sustain engagement over years.
