Assassin's Creed Revelations
Assassin's Creed Revelations is a third-person action-adventure stealth game set primarily in Constantinople during the rise of the Ottoman Empire. Players control an aging Ezio Auditore as he searches for five keys to unlock a library built by Altair, while also playing brief flashback sequences as Altair and first-person platforming sections as Desmond Miles. Gameplay retains the series' mix of combat, climbing, and stealth, adding a hookblade for faster traversal and zipline access, a bomb crafting system, and a tower defense minigame. The multiplayer mode from Brotherhood returns with expanded maps, characters, and modes.
What it feels like
The hunt for hidden keys and Altair's secrets creates an enigmatic pull of withheld answers.
What it's about
Set during the rise of the Ottoman Empire in Constantinople with period-authentic architecture and culture. Covert infiltration, information gathering, and secret society intrigue drive the assassin narrative. The search for Altair's five keys and the larger Templar conspiracy structure the plot.
How it plays
Avoiding detection through shadows, sound, and patrol awareness is a core pillar of gameplay alongside combat. Close-quarters weapon combat with counters and finishing moves forms the primary direct conflict system. Deliberate vertical surface climbing with hand holds is a signature traversal mechanic across rooftops and structures.
How it looks and sounds
The game is built around a third-person camera following Ezio and other playable characters through the world. Character animations and cutscenes use frame-by-frame techniques typical of the series' visual style.
How it's structured
Constantinople is a large continuous explorable space with districts and landmarks accessible in largely non-linear order. A bounded narrative arc of Ezio's journey to unlock Altair's library provides authored story structure. Players can tackle objectives and explore areas in non-linear order within the open world.
