Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is an action-adventure game set in Rome, where Master Assassin Ezio Auditore takes on the Templar Order. Players recruit and command a Brotherhood of Assassins to dismantle the corrupt powers entrenched in the city. The game combines stealth, combat, and leadership as Ezio rallies allies to fight alongside him. The game also introduces a multiplayer mode to the series, where players choose from a roster of unique characters with distinct weapons and assassination techniques, competing against each other online.
What it feels like
The narrative plays its themes of justice, loyalty, and brotherhood with sincere commitment despite the fantastical setting.
What it's about
Set in Renaissance Rome with grounded historical setting, factions, and architecture as backdrop. Covert infiltration, gathering intelligence on targets, and dismantling a hidden conspiracy-driven organization. Ezio's personal vendetta against those responsible for his family's destruction drives the narrative arc.
How it plays
Avoiding detection, using shadows, and reading patrol patterns are definitional to the assassination fantasy and core to progression. Close-quarters sword combat against guards is a core fallback when stealth is broken or chosen. Fluid climbing, vaulting, and traversal across rooftops and buildings is a major traversal and evasion mechanic.
How it looks and sounds
The camera follows Ezio from behind/shoulder view, allowing sight of the world and character movement. Cutscenes feature stylized character animation though the main game uses 3D rendering.
How it's structured
Rome is a large continuous explorable space traversable in non-linear fashion, central to the experience of moving between districts and targets. The core campaign is designed for solo play, though multiplayer is a separate mode. Multiplayer mode pits players directly against each other in assassination-focused competitive matches.
